We are in the middle of our annual Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie marathon on New Years Eve – it’s part of the tradition we accidentally stumbled upon quite a few years ago. We have a smorgasbörd with smoked fish, fancy cheese, bread, fruits, veggies, and treats and watch MST3K. The first year we did this, we watched an alien spider movie that ended with a VW bug-sized spider attacking the main characters. Tonight, we watched a movie about killer fish and a second movie about a spider king. They are unbelievably corny. It’s glorious.
I don’t know what I’m going to do with this blog tomorrow. I might just keep writing because it’s a habit. Sometimes it’s a pain to have to do it when I am really tired, but I kind of wonder if I’ll feel guilty the first time I don’t write. I have no idea why I would, but I can see it happening. This whole experiment has been pretty weird. I’m going to break it down sometime more when I have time to look back over the year.
This year feels like it’s been about 40 years. So much has changed. I’ve listened to some end of the year song countdowns and read some end of the year lists that made me so confused: that was really THIS YEAR?? It’s been forever and it’s been no time at all. Crazy stuff.
