June 19: It just gets worse.

Today, McClatchy reported that it is more like 6,000 children who’ve been separated from their families. The AP reported that there are three “tender age” facilities for children under age 5 who’ve been taken from their parents, with the possibility of a fourth “needed.” I don’t remember the news source (Strib?), but they are looking at opening a detention center in Minnesota. Finally, there is audio of one of the facilities. It’s hard to listen to. Every American should be forced to.

This post on Facebook clears up a lot of the lies being spread by the administration and their followers. It is pretty solid and has citations (not sure all the citations are super solid, but it was sourced).

I don’t know how we come through this administration. It’s past the point of political differences. What will happen with the hardcore, riled-up Trump followers when he is inevitably taken out of power at some point? Will this be the first non-peaceful transfer of power in the US in the modern era?

I’m so tired but we can’t even afford to be tired anymore. I think that’s what the alt-right, the racists, the fascists, I think that’s what they are counting on: we are so overwhelmed by the horror of everything happening that we get numb. It’s working in some ways. I don’t want to engage. I don’t want to hear the cries and screams. I don’t want to even consider a facility filled with children in diapers, children who should be in preschool rather than an abandoned Walmart.

I want to be stronger. We need to be stronger and face the atrocities. God give us strength; we need it.
