September 28: Boats and Brrrrrgrass

We could see our breath this morning and we can see it again now. We’re sitting out in the field by the river, listening to The Lil Smokies right now. Annika has crawled into the back of our pop-up shelter, curled up in a blanket, and fallen asleep. I don’t know how she is sleeping in this cold on the tarp floor, but she is. She’s amazing. She has been running around all day. It’s no wonder she’s so tired. Anders is tending the festival fire and has been all day. He’s talking to all sorts of people and enjoying his freedom. I have a bunch of layers on, all covered by a Care Bear fleece union suit I got last year. I’m really toasty, actually. Dancing around, I actually got too hot.

The cold is better than the heat from last year. We couldn’t even breathe last year, it was so hot. This is much better. Best weekend of the year.
