Since Dak snores like a 757 engine, he sleeps in the basement most of the time. As a result, Annika has claimed his side of the bed as hers. The other night, we were snuggling down to go to sleep and she said “nuggle” so I said “nuggle” and pretty soon we were both saying “nuggle nuggle.” Then Annika said “we sound like a Pokémon. Nuggle. Nuggle nuggle. Nuggle.” I laughed. “Yeah.”
Today she drew the Nuggle Pokémon and wrote a paragraph about them. They have a boy and girl version, like Nidoqueen and Nidoking. They are super cute, with sleeping caps and wrapped in blankets which they use for their attacks. She is considering whether or not they should evolve, and what they would evolve into. It’s the cutest thing ever.
Hard transition, because this doesn’t really connect: we are headed to Boats and Bluegrass this weekend and it’s going to be super cold – 34 degrees on Friday night. Last year, the heat index at Boats and Bluegrass was over 100 degrees and it was miserable. We left early even; I’ve never been so happy to leave one of my favorite places ever. This year, I’m wondering if there are battery powered electric blankets because it’s going to be so cold! I definitely prefer cold to the alternative: last year was excruciating. Still, why couldn’t we just get a weekend like this past weekend? Is that too much to ask? Apparently it is.
I’m still excited though. One of my favorite places with some of my favorite people. I’ve been working so much that it doesn’t feel real quite yet. One day left of school. Bring it.
