I started Weight Watchers a week ago and I’ve learned a lot about my diet and my body in just that short time. It’s kind of surprising how quickly I noticed the changes.
First of all, I had been eating pretty terribly, but I didn’t realize it and I thought I was eating relatively reasonably. Changing my habits has been a little difficult because I don’t cook very much and I don’t feel like I have a lot of time to do so. That part is tough.
I dived in head-first and did a really good job during the week at eating well. That means I didn’t eat a lot of added sugar for the week. Then, when we went to the Girl Scouts potluck picnic and I ate some “regular” food, everything tasted super-sweet. Especially the bread. I hadn’t realized how sweet everything really is.
I continued eating “regular” food this weekend: there was a family birthday party on Saturday, then today our healthy dinner got scuttled when someone unplugged the crockpot and no one noticed until it was too late. We ate a frozen pizza. I ate half as much as I normally used to, but it was still “a lot.”
I didn’t overdo anything, but eating the “normal” foods brought back the cravings and now I’m hungry all the time again. I think “I can just have a pear,” but my brain and tummy says “NO! EAT 12 COOKIES.”
We don’t even have cookies in the house. The pear and boiled egg didn’t do much for the cravings. It’ll be fine; the cravings will pass like they did before, but I was definitely surprised by how much my cravings came back.
I’ve lost some weight, I guess, but more importantly, I haven’t had the problems with acid reflux that I used to. I feel like I have more energy. Those two things feel good; hopefully I can stay focused on that enough to get through the cravings.
