September 21: Autumnal Equinox Bedtime Dance Party

Annika and I listened to disco music and danced while we were supposed to be going to bed tonight. I was looking for a song, then got sucked down the magic vortex of playlists on Amazon music and we ended up sampling songs for longer than we should have, even though it’s Friday night. I can’t think of a better thing to do than to dance around the bed to “I Will Survive” and “Funky Town” with my favorite girl.

I needed that after today. Yesterday I found out that I could (should?) have surgery for carpal tunnel release in my right hand, and I had to leave school early, so I didn’t get my stuff set up for today. That led to serious crazy scrambling and less-than-perfect planning. It went fine, but I hate scrambling like that. It makes me crabby.

I forgot part of my lunch today (yogurt) and I didn’t get everything done that I wanted to before I left school and that was stressful. I forgot my watermelon at school and I’m going to have to go in and work this weekend anyway, so I’ll grab it then I guess. Then I made us late for the Girl Scout picnic (although we weren’t as late as I thought we’d be).

A music party with a positive kid was a good night activity. It put a little positivity into an otherwise overwhelming and anxiety-driven day.
