This trimester is going to be tough. I had all my classes today – got to meet my juniors and seniors because today was the first day for them – and it’s a lot to have so many classes at two schools. I actually know most of the seniors in my class from last year, which is awesome. I was excited to see them again, actually!
Still, I worked my regular hours – showed up at 7:15, left around 4:15 (early to get home for Annika) and then spent about 3 hours working and planning at home so that I would be ready to go tomorrow. I think I got some great stuff, so I’m excited for tomorrow, but I know it’s going to be hard to get up in the morning.
It’s all compounded by the sudden outbreak of dramatic news from the never-ending circus that is the US Presidency. This anonymous NY Times editorial comes out that both confirms what we kind of thought AND suggests there’s an anti-democratic, unelected cabal of terrible people making decisions and ignoring the directives of the President. Then there’s all the hot takes: is it good? (In a way, maybe) Is this person a coward? (Yes) Is this a soft coup? (Depends on how you look at it) Is there anything that can be done about this shit show? (Sure, but none of the people in power has the integrity and guts to do it).
It’s not fair that it’s already 11 pm. I have so much more to read about this! People are claiming it’s Pence because of the word “lodestar,” which he uses a lot more often than the average human being does (article with info). Compelling stuff. Trump can’t fire Pence. LOL.
