Tomorrow we all go back to school. Both of my kids and I are anxious-excited. I never sleep well the night before school starts, so I don’t have high hopes for a relaxing night. The only person who saw it as just another night was Dak, who just kind of went about his evening, playing around with the banjolele and the cigar box guitar while the rest of us stressed out. That’s fair. It’s probably one of the good things about working year round. It’s even for him rather than 9-ish months of 10+ hour days and some weekends spent grading, then a couple weeks of decompression, a few weeks of reflection and relaxation, and a few weeks thinking and preparing for the new school year. Part of me thinks a yearlong schedule would be better for all of us.
So I’m going to try to relax and get some rest, at least, so I’m ready to go tomorrow. Here’s to a good year.
