September 1: Suggestions for the State Fair

We took our annual trip to the Great Minnesota Get-Together today and while it was fun, I have a few suggestions for improvements.

  1. We should have a 12-day pass that we can buy to let us go to the fair any time. I would prefer to go to the fair for a few hours a bunch of days rather than one marathon day that leaves me sore, cranky, and sad that I didn’t get to see all the things I wanted to.
  2. The little coupon book should be in alphabetical order OR by area at the fair so you don’t have to flip through all over looking for what you want.
  3. They should have a Giant Stuffed Animal check, like a coat check, so that you don’t have to carry the ridiculous huge stuffed animals everywhere when your daughter wins one at 11 am. Side note: those stuffed animals are remarkably light. I’ve never had a friend or anyone I was with win one before, so I didn’t know. Annika won it at the ring toss. Wild.
  4. Somehow, put down markings for where people can walk and where people should stand. Standing in the walking area should be prohibited.
  5. I was pretty impressed by the lack of cigarette smoke in non-designated areas. I wish the designated areas were more clear (so I could avoid them).
  6. More benches, chairs, and other places to sit down in the shade.

I definitely have more, but I’m falling asleep writing. It was a good, crazy day that felt too long. Sad.
