August 13: Last-minute voter

I have almost made up my mind about who I will vote for tomorrow in the Dem primary. I still have to do a little research on the judges and non-partisan races, but these are likely my final choices.

I’ll vote for Amy Klobuchar, but it won’t really matter because she’ll be endorsed easily, I believe.

In the other race, I’ll vote for Tina Smith because I’ve tried asking Richard Painter some questions but haven’t seen responses, and the issues aren’t on his website. Neither is perfect, but I don’t think he supports labor the way I do, he doesn’t have anything on his website about labor or education, and he never responded about net neutrality. He was also an ethics lawyer for George W. Bush. I know that W doesn’t seem quite so bad compared to the shit show we are saddled with now, but W’s was not an ethical administration. Tina is not perfect, but she is okay. Hopefully someone better runs next time.

For AG, I’ll vote for Matt Pelikan. The drama in this race re: Keith Ellison hasn’t affected my vote because I was going to vote Pelikan before the allegations of abuse came out. I’m glad I chose a good candidate. I think this race has shown the folly of early voting without reason: lots of people wish they could change their votes now. I like making decisions at the last minute partially because it gives me time to get as much information as I can. I also worry about a situation like with what happened with Paul Wellstone. What would happen with those ballots?

For governor, I still am not 100% sure who I will vote for, but I’m definitely leaning Murphy. I was a solid Murphy voter until I learned more about Lori Swanson and how she may be in the lead. Now I am pretty sure I will vote for Murphy, but I really want to make sure Swanson doesn’t win.

Those are the major races. I’m falling asleep; we worked hard on organizing the Playmobil toys today. Happy election eve!
