July 28: some fun questions

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning medal for? Procrastinating and then turning out a good product anyway. Research.

What is the most annoying habit that other people have? Chewing loudly. Also, whistling in small public areas, like a bathroom or changing room.

What city, state or country do you never want to go back to? Toledo, Ohio.

What songs have you completely memorized? I have a great mind for remembering lyrics to songs. I might mishear them at times, but I can sing along to songs I haven’t heard in years. I have a language-brain, so I think in words. I think a lot of people have visual brains and think in pictures much more than I do; I think most people can probably do a little of both, but I can’t really picture things very well in my mind. But when it comes to music or lyrics, those are all catalogued pretty well in my brain.

What is the most annoying question that people ask you? “When are you due?” Yeah, I’m overweight and I carry that weight mainly in my belly but NEVER ask a woman this without being sure she’s pregnant. This has been happening my entire adult life (even when I was a healthy weight). I used to get embarrassed, but now I just respond, “oh, no, I’m just fat.” Usually this is followed by awkward silence. I figure I shouldn’t be the only one to get embarrassed. Runner-up: “Are you left-handed?” after someone sees me writing. My answer is “no” and then I watch their reaction.

What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation? Non-verbal communication. Verbal communication basics. The Myers-Briggs types. How to put together an argument. Group communication skills and tips. Competitive debate. Lots of writing topics. Actually, the more I think about this question, I think I could spend the rest of the day listing things.

What bends your mind every time you think about it? The idea that when you have brain surgery, you are awake.
