I enjoyed my relatively politics-free vacation; I listened to history podcasts and generally stayed away from political stories. Of course I got the big ones, but I didn’t read much further than the headlines.

Today that changed. Please read this testimony from people affected – mainly children and parents – by the evil family separation policy for people seeking asylum. Read every word.

A 14-month old wasn’t bathed for 85 days. Covered in lice. That means every kid at that facility probably has lice. Who is changing their diapers? Who is playing with them, talking with them, helping them develop? A seven year old asking when her mama is going to take her from this horrible place. These are fucking children, babies. This is state-sponsored child abuse. Torture. These are crimes against humanity.

Before any of you start arguing with me that I’m being hyperbolic (I’m not) or blowing it out of proportion (I’m not) or that I shouldn’t fucking swear (I am, and if that’s the problem you have with this post instead of the fact that thousands of children are being abused by our representative government, you have a problem with your moral compass), GO BACK AND READ THAT SHIT. That is testimony. It is not “fake news” or whatever terrible people have to tell themselves to help forget that their government is literally, systematically abusing children.

If you are a moral, ethical human being, you cannot possibly support this. We must create the pressure to open these centers to inspection by state child welfare professionals and we must reunite these families safely. This is state-sponsored terror.
