Today was exhausting! We walked pretty much everywhere and just got back around maybe 10 pm. I put a lot of miles on today.
It’s late and I don’t want to stay up writing too long tonight, so here’s the basic rundown of what we did and some thoughts – pictures tomorrow.
First we got coffee and walked down the Magnificent Mile to Millennium Park, where we saw the cloud bean thing, a native plant garden, and a bunch of fountains. We took the subway back down toward our hotel and ate pizza at Lou Malneti’s. We walked back to the hotel, then down to Navy Pier for the night, where we went on a speedboat tour on Lake Michigan.
It was nice to be somewhere that was cooler – it was definitely comfortable outside walking around today. It was also nice to be in a multicultural city with people speaking all kinds of languages. I feel so much more comfortable here than I did in Nashville, where I mostly saw white people and it seemed a lot more segregated than other places I’ve been to. Maybe that isn’t a fair reading of the city, but it felt that way to me.
Tomorrow we get up and drive home.
