We drove to Memphis from St. Louis today, and it is over 100 degrees here. We ate at a local farm-to-table restaurant and drove around for a while. We went to the Memphis Pyramid, which is pretty much a Bass Pro Shop with a hotel and a big elevator in the middle to go up to the top, where there was a look out. We tried to go to a park, but it was closed. It felt like the night would be a bust, but we drove by Beale Street and they had a car show! The sun was going down, so it dropped into the 90s and in the shade with a breeze, it was actually pretty comfortable. Here’s Beale Street tonight:

We had a beautiful night walking up and down the street, looking at the cars and listening to the music coming from every park and bar. Memphis is too hot – it might get over 105 tomorrow – but I love this city.
