June 21: Happy Solstice

Celebrating solstice makes sense to me, especially in winter when we’re welcoming back the sun, but also in the summer. The longest day of the year, and tilting back toward balance, seems like a good point to take stock of things.

Right now the world feels out of balance, but perhaps it’s time for the pendulum to swing the other direction, just as the earth begins its tilt back towards autumnal equinox. Hopefully our world will begin to tilt back toward justice. Or even just sanity. I’d take that at this point. I’d like a break where we can just get a breath in before having to suck in more air as another wave of crappy news hits us.

Happy summer solstice. I hope the sun keeps you all warm throughout the year.
