Tonight, Dak asked Annika what the most fun part of the day was. She had a pretty full day: playing with friends, playing in a new tiny pool with her Playmobils, watching videos, and reading. However, she said the most fun part of the day was picking out the colors for the flower mosaic I was making:

When I started, it wasn’t going to be a multicolored flower like this – I was going to do something a little more mandala-like – but she came downstairs and wanted to help choose colors, so I figured why not? She was excited to pick out the yellow for the middle, then just decided she was going to pick all the colors. I didn’t have a specific vision in mind when I started. I just wanted to make something and finish it because it had been a while, and it was way too hot outside to do anything out there. So, while some days I may have insisted on choosing the colors myself, I just went with it.
It was such a tiny thing, really. She just hung out and watched and we talked and thought about different colors. Turns out, it was the most fun part of her day. It’s a good reminder that the tiniest things in our minds might be the biggest things to someone else.
