April 29: Threes

I couldn’t decide what to write about tonight because while I have a ton of ideas, I didn’t want to put the effort in to write about them fully. I’m not really motivated to write about the issues I’m concerned about with debate after a meeting with some women in the community. I have a bunch of education things on my mind, but the amount of time it would take to do them justice is prohibitive. Instead, I’m going to do some lists of three (which was an idea from a website I found).

Three favorite things to wear:
1. My “Universal Pants” skirts – made here in Minnesota by an amazing woman, they are unique and comfortable.
2. My pajamas – specifically, an oversized “Boats and Bluegrass” T-shirt and a pair of soft cotton jammie pants.
3. My FeMNist shirt – it’s cute, it’s made locally, and the proceeds go to a good cause.

Three pet peeves:
1. Chewing sounds – gum, food, whatever. If I can hear you eat, I’ve fantasized about hitting you.
2. Bass from a car down the road that doesn’t go away. If it drives by and disappears, that’s fine, but if there’s some douche outside working on his car and he has the music up enough that all I hear is the bass for two hours, then I will lose my shit. Same thing goes for the neighbors across the alley who listen to really shitty “classic” rock at high volumes for hours during the day on a beautiful day where all I want to do is relax outside with some peace and quiet.
3. Over-scheduling – I hate to be micromanaged and I hate when I have way too much going on to breathe. This is a problem for me because I overcommit.

Three important books:
(this was supposed to be three favorite books, but I can’t really choose a top three)
1. Sassafras, Cypress, and Indigo by Ntozake Shange
2. Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie
3. Learning to be White by Thandeka

Three fears:
1. Needles, especially for shots.
2. Death or major illness for my children or husband.
3. Falling from a high place.

Three things I used to do a lot but I don’t do much anymore (if at all):
1. Write poetry
2. Cross stitch
3. Watch television
