March 21: Trending

I didn’t know what to write about, so I took to the Googles to look for some potential prompts. One that caught my eye was “What trends do you dislike?” And I thought “I can complain about things!” But I don’t want to be too negative, so I’ll try to add some trends I do like, too.

Trends I don’t like:

  • Everyone having anxiety. I don’t blame them, I just don’t like that more and more people have anxiety.
  • Fortnite, mainly because kids can’t tear themselves away from it, even in school.
  • The push for more homework and more test-focus in schools.
  • Trolls and bots on Twitter who, after every shooting or bombing (e.g. Parkland school, Austin bombing), go on and lie that the shooter or bomber was antifa or a Bernie supporter or a left-winger. The men in Florida and Texas were both right wing.
  • Weather trends that forecast lots of snow for this weekend.

Trends I do like:

  • Politically and socially active teenagers
  • Kid-like clothes in adult sizes (I just got a Care Bears onesie pajama)
  • Birkenstocks coming back into style
  • Doggo memes

Annika just came in and asked what I am writing about. I told her I was trying to think of trends that I like. She is giving me many ideas for trends I like: “What do you like to eat?”

Me: “That’s not a trend, really…”

Annika: “Oh. What about Peeps? Memes? Video games? …” Then she launched into a whole recap of her day, especially her swap of her Roblox guy with her friend’s Roblox guy. They are basically little characters, like of like boxy Playmobils. She’s sharing them with me now, switching their hats and laughing.

I am digressing. What I have learned from this post is that I’m not very trendy. I already knew I was easily distracted.
