I’m super tired and it’s way past my bed time because I was out coaching until the wee hours of the night. This is a little bit of a cop-out, but today I’m going to spend about five minutes writing about stuff I like because it makes me feel happy right before bed, especially after a super busy and kind of stressful day.
Stuff I like:
When my dog gets excited on Sundays when it’s time to get the coffee, sit in the rocking chair, and read the news because he knows he gets to sit on my lap for a long time and just chill together.
When my son learns a cool new song or makes up some new riff on his guitar and shows it to me
When my daughter hangs out with her “maker box” and creates new things out of recycled materials.
When my daughter gets excited because she can fill her hat with left over trophy packing peanuts to bring home from a debate tournament to experiment with.
When my husband does the dishes all the time because I really hate the dishes and I know he does too but he’s really cool about it.
My coffee in the morning.
When I am in the zone and I can tell my students are with me and we are thinking about cool stuff without worrying about points or time or anything like that.
When I get complimented for something I care about or told that I’ve done something good or useful – I am a praise-junkie and I’m pretty sure I could be manipulated into a lot of things just by someone telling me that I’m good at something or that they appreciate me.
Sleep. I LOVE to sleep. And I’ve written about a bunch of stuff that I like and I’ve done my 5+ minutes for 1/9 with an hour and half to spare and I’m proud and amazed that I’ve made it 9 days. I like that too.
